Proud to be an innerpreneur

Becoming an entrepreneur in chaotic times

Especially in times of economic and political turmoil like these, with so much uncertainty in corporate careers, many people are choosing to be self-directed and becoming entrepreneurs.

Career counselor Valerie Young developed her company ChangingCourse to provide resources “to help you discover your life mission and live it” – and writes about people who succeed at creating new business ventures.

One of her articles is Those “Crazy” Business Ideas Often Turn Out to Be the Best.

Here is an excerpt:

dogSpeaking of finding support for changing course, try to imagine what Katie Wainwright’s family and friends had to say when she told them she wanted to pick up dog poop for a living.

You read right. Last year Katie started Doggy Doody Disposal in Agawam, Massachusetts.

The company provides “doody scooping” or bagged doody removal for clients in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut.

In addition to residential clients, they also service commercial property owners, pet related businesses, golf courses, parks, realtors and more.

The company credo is “We do doody so you won’t have to.”

Other “crazy” ideas have proved the nay sayers wrong and helped catapult the idea maker out of a job they hate into a life they love.

There’s a lady in my town called “Doggy Doo Not” and she does pretty well. She picks up dog crap all day, but she likes dogs and likes doing something nice for people, people pay her to swing by every week and clean up. Now she’s got people working for her and has expanded all over Fairfield County, CT.
