Using Our Subconscious for Creativity and Business Achievement

Many artists talk about the creative inspiration we can find in our unconscious depths, but business coaches and entrepreneurs also realize how valuable it can be to access what lies beyond our usual waking consciousness.

Writer and director Guillermo del Toro (“Pan’s Labyrinth”) spoke about people having two levels of thought: “One is conscious and the other unconscious or subconscious… I believe that there is a whole dimension that I wouldn’t call supernatural but ‘supranatural’…”

A magazine profile of the highly acclaimed cable series “Mad Men” and its creator Matthew Weiner describes how much he uses his inner life as inspiration for the show, as he did for his writing on “The Sopranos.”

The Vanity Fair article by Bruce Handy notes, “To hear the show’s writers discuss Weiner’s creative process, it’s almost as if the Mad Men world and its ongoing narratives exist fully formed somewhere deep in the recesses of Weiner’s mind, tangible but elusive, like dreams half remembered upon waking.

“He retrieves fragments and shards and brings them into the writers’ room, to use as building blocks for larger dramas.”

Using the subconscious for more success as an entrepreneur

Business success leader T. Harv Eker says, “Each of us has a personal money and success blueprint ingrained in our subconscious mind and it is this blueprint, more than anything else, that determines your financial destiny.”

Business coach and educator Katie Freiling notes, “The subconscious mind is actually 1 million times more powerful as an information processor than the conscious mind.

“Now, we have all been told that positive affirmations will attract positive results because of the law of attraction, which is true, but only to an extent. If we are only using our conscious mind, the part that only has 5% influence, we are relying on willpower to get the job done.”

She continues, “Our subconscious mind may be self sabotaging and limiting us in ways that we do not even realize. If you tell yourself you will be successful and think successful thoughts, but all the while your subconscious mind has been programmed to believe otherwise, the positive thoughts are just not going to work.”

Katie Freiling is presenting a new coaching program for entrepreneurs to help “work through old fears, stories, and limiting beliefs that keep them stuck, stagnated, and unable to take effective action” and provide more help in a “deep, transformative journey of self-discovery and self-empowerment.”
